Loose Gutter Spikes
Loose gutter spikes are super easy to see from the ground. Gutter spikes are essentially long nails that attach the gutters to the fascia board of your home. These nails are the old-school way of putting in gutters so your home may not even have these.
If there are just a few spikes are loose you can easily fix this by hammering the nails back in without damaging the gutter. However, if there is a lot of nails loose all together that may be a sign of something different. For example, the fascia boards may be rotten or your gutters are holding water that causes the gutter to sag. If this is the case you would defiantly need to fix the issue before the gutter falls and cause additional damage.
Water Damage To Fascia Board
A fascia board is the trim board that the gutters are mounted onto.
If water is able to get behind the gutter, it will wear down the board. Over time, enough water damage to the board will cause it to rot. Once the board begins to rot, it becomes soft and no longer supports the gutter system. If your fascia board is rotten, it needs to be replaced.
